Mikozi Rhodesian Ridgebacks is owned and run by myself, Vanessa Macgill.
Our dogs have proven success in the show ring, both at All Breeds and more importantly, Specialty Show, level.
We are situated about 20 minutes from Adelaide city, in South Australia. Our family currently consists of five Ridgebacks (Tzoe, Demi, Esme, Gatto and Dave) and one cat (Marge). Our other show stars, 'Sadiki' & 'Grace', live with Rose & Greg and 'Manu' lives with Tricia & Phil.
All our dogs are members of the family and have run of the house and yard, and sleep inside.
Gatto is our only Ridgeback currently being campaigned in the All Breeds show ring - with our other 'show dogs' pretty much retired and spending quality time on the couch !
My first Ridgeback Tzoe (Ravvar Elara Tzoe ET) is still going strong at 13 years old. Charlie, a 7 year old rescue RR, came to live with us for a wonderful 18 months, until he sadly passed away.
It was when the gorgeous Ashiki (BISS/MRUBISS Ch Balnacoin Burnt Toffee ET) came to join our family as an 8 week old pup that we got involved in showing. Ashiki returned to her breeder, Christina MacLeod of Balnacoin Kennels, for her first litter. From this litter, the stunning 'Cooper' (Ch Balnacoin Kelton) has had much success as a show dog. Cooper is owned & expertly handled by Jana of Almazart Kennels.
After much research and consideration, we decided to obtain a Kennel Prefix and Ashiki's second litter was born in 2005 under that prefix "Mikozi". A fantastic litter resulted, with three of the pups going on to achieve their Title (being Demi, Grace & Sadiki).
I've have previously been involved with Rhodesian Ridgebacks for 13 years and have been showing for 10 years. I have previously been the Vice President of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of South Australia. I joined the Ridgeback Club in 1998, mainly in order to implement a Rescue program, which has since successfully re-homed many Ridgies.
We take bringing puppies into the world, and the responsibility that goes with that, very seriously, and therefore only have a litter approximately every 18 months.
